This is scary stuff: Researchers have designed a new method for detecting medical mistakes on children, and they estimate that medical errors harm 1 out of 15 hospitalized kids, a much higher rate than previous estimates. Medical mix-ups in the pediatric ward made the news back in November when actor Dennis Quaid's newborn twins were accidentally given adult-sized doses of a blood thinner. I hope hospitals and drug companies are paying attention.

Very interesting -- it makes me wonder why they can't apply these same warning "triggers" before a child is given medication instead of after.
